Terra Nostra : Our Earth

Weather Station

Knowing about the weather is vital to the Terra Nostra project. To this end we have installed a weather station on our roof which transmits information to our computer via a wireless network link. Monitoring the wind speed will tell us how well our wind turbine should be working. If the actual output differs from this then we know to undertake investigative action. Similarly the suns' heat and intensity determine how well the solar thermal and solar photovoltaic collectors operate. In extreme heat some of the solar thermal collectors need to be shut down to avoid extreme pressure build-up.

The sun, rain. barometric pressure and wind all contribute to the soil temperature altering the energy collecting capabilities of the geothermal heat pump. Taking all these factors into account it is our intension that, by analysing past trends and so forecasting the weather for the next few days, we can regulate our systems to their maximum efficiency.

The diagrams below show the current weather conditions at the centre. These are updated every 15 minutes.
